Abstract

This research examines the application of brain-based learning (BBL) elements in social studies learning in Indonesia. It focused on social studies teachers in junior high schools in South Tangerang City and collected data from 100 social studies teachers. This research focused on social studies teachers in junior high schools in South Tangerang City. Each school is represented by one social studies teacher, so data is collected from 100 social studies teachers. The primary data collected in this study was obtained through the distribution of the questionnaire carried out via Google Form by utilizing the MGMP IPS in South Tangerang. The results show that the implementation of BBL in South Tangerang City did not run optimally because of two things: first, most of the BBL aspects had not been carried out optimally by teachers. Teachers rarely do many components of brain-based learning systems. Second, the survey results show that the five aspects of BBL are not carried out in harmony in social studies learning. BBL is a harmony learning pattern, where the five elements are carried out simultaneously, practically, and harmoniously because one part supports the other. If one part is too dominant, it will negatively impact learning outcomes.

Abstract

Integrative development between arts, science, and technology is evident. The birth of the computer era has influenced these matters since the 1990s. In the twenty-first century, various novelties and possibilities in the realm of digital arts had surfaced, whether it be in the realm of art creation or art appreciation. In this paper, the authors aim to analyze the matter of creativity in digital art by observing and utilizing Processing. org, an integrated development environment (IDE) software based on JavaScript, commonly used for visual coding. Qualitative methodology through literature review, data observation, and discourse analysis were applied through this research. The data obtained consists of JavaScript syntax and visual outputs generated by the command prompts. In analyzing the obtained data, generative art theory and computational creativity theory were utilized. Throughout the analysis, authors managed to note several functions—or command prompts—in Processing.org as key features of generative art creation. From the analysis, we could conclude that Processing software, through its features, could accommodate the creation of generative art and apply the concept of p-creativity within the context of computational creativity. In this paper, the authors also note the importance of randomization features on visual outputs.

Abstract

Virtual tours are chosen as alternative tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to explore travelers’ experiences in their roles as participants in a virtual tour of Batuan Village, Bali. Qualitative approaches were used; interviews and focus group discussions (FGD) were conducted before the first alpha test (conceptualization of the virtual tour). The 2nd FGD was held to understand the feedback for improvement on the 2nd alpha test. Then, the 3rd FGD was used to explore inputs that can be applied by practitioners in organizing better virtual tours. Through descriptive analysis, six points related to experience are concluded: (1) an enjoyable experience from travelers, (2) an appreciation of the destination’s uniqueness, (3) a requirement of devices and platforms for a smooth virtual tour, (4) innovation to create a narrative story plot, (5) a bold character’s personification, and (6) a social media account to publish the tour information. The biggest challenges of this study were the web-app development and the virtual tour platform.

Abstract

In almost every job, technological advancement plays a vital role in making it easierfor humans, including social media. Today, there is a diminution of solidarity, which iscontradictory to the “concept of caring”. Users are increasingly indifferent, sometimesselfish, and exaggerate when they come into contact with posts on social media, thustriggering hacking by irresponsible individuals to achieve certain advantages. Thispaper is dedicated to investigating discriminatory actions against lecturers in theFaculty of ABC–University of XYZ who use Facebook and WhatsApp to show off allthe luxuries of life. Through the experimental–qualitative design, the sample invited“social climbing” lecturers who experienced material and non-material losses. Thisstudy describes that respondents who experienced material impacts due to hackingwere more dominant than those who suffered non-material losses. Most judged that thehacking addressed to respondents was triggered by a dominant intensity on social mediarather than going about their daily routines. However, in the long term, lecturers expresstheir attitude toward improving integrity as an academic community. Recognizing thisreality, the practical implications of regulation and lawlessness in cyberspace need to beenforced. In addition, these findings also set the agenda for future studies.

Abstract

Multiword sequences are a language pattern that occurs when a bunch of words emerge in a similar register. In research papers conducted by lecturers and students, different topic areas and indexes has created various characteristics of lexical bundles. The method of this research is qualitative, combining corpus design to identify the sequence of words within the text. The corpus data were generated from five different indexing journals, yet the topic is linguistics. Initially, the whole papers were converted to text format to deal with readability in the program used. The program used was Orange Apps version 3.27 by applying the textable, data table, and text mining menus. The sources of the data are emphasized as being academic research indexed in SINTA 5, published in 2020. The main theory of used in this research is that of Biber’s (2007) which discusses the main characteristics and number of criteria for defining word strings. This observation resulted in 207.896 characters and 33.636 words. There were 4,273 words based on the pre-processing analysis result, which included transformation, tokenization, and PoS-tagging. From a total of 4,273 words, virus, deixis, and slang were the most frequently occurring. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the majority of journal articles are about viruses and slang. They pertain to the prevalent topic of pandemics at the time the journals were published. When the process of writing a journal article is in progress, this information may aid the authors in identifying the journal’s keywords and most frequent words.

Abstract

The digital transformation changes the way work is handled by using information technology to gain efficiency and effectiveness. It also includes the adoption and integration of new information and communication technologies for the completion of sustainable solutions. This process also involves new organizational forms and new business models. Digital transformation requires a digital collaborative network (Digital Collaborative Network, or DCN) among stakeholders in the 4th industrial revolution. The purpose of forming this collaborative network is to balance competition and share information, which will bring many benefits to the collaborating parties. The main objective of this program is to create a DCN for coffee marketing based on existing data at Tenjolaya’s LMDH (Forest-Village Community). The goal is to form a digital community with three main networks, namely ICT networks, knowledge networks, and social networks. Another goal is to train LMDH members to use ICT innovation and LMDH assistance so that they are ready to become a digital community. The target activities include four things: (1) mapping and socializing the DCN concept; (2) producing and processing development activities; (3) increasing the ability of farmer groups to be digital communities (through training and mentoring); and (4) conducting commercial activities.

Abstract

The increase in population causes an increase in the amount of public consumption, increasing the amount of waste. Based on databoks.katadata.co.id, households are known to be waste contributors. Then, based on the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) survey in 2019, it was found that 50.8% of households did not sort waste. The behavior of households is an important problem to be solved because mixed waste cannot be separated and recycled again. Seeing these conditions, it is necessary to design a waste bin to persuade households to perform waste-sorting activities. The waste problem is considered wicked, and design thinking is the appropriate method to approach it. Research with design thinking is carried out through understanding, observing, defining, creating ideas, prototyping, and testing stages. In testing the prototype, the persuasive level of the waste bin design was assessed using the Perceived Persuasiveness Questionnaire (PPQ). This research results in a waste bin consisting of four boxes equipped with an adjustable bulkhead, QR-Code, and removable sorting card that can make a sound when not throwing garbage
